YOUTH / TEEN DRESS CODE

If a student arrives for class without the required clothing and/or footwear, Diaz Studio of Dance has the right to turn the student away or ask the student to observe the class without granting a class credit.

Note: Students are not required to wear a certain shoe color for each class, but they might be required to wear a specific shoe color in the recital based upon the chosen costume.

ALL BELONGINGS SHOULD BE LABELED WITH THE STUDENT'S NAME. DIAZ STUDIO OF DANCE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS.

 

3-5 year old classes

Ballet/Tap

  • Leotard, biketard, or form fitting dance attire required. Teachers must be able to see the dancer’s body outline clearly in order to make proper corrections on posture, alignment, etc. Underwear must not be showing.

  • Ballet shoes and tap shoes required (tap shoes must have ties, not velcro).

  • Tights are optional but strongly encouraged.

  • Ballet skirt, small tutu, biker shorts, and leggings are optional. Skirts and tutus must not be longer than mid-thigh.

  • Students should not wear dresses or costumes in class. i.e. princess dresses, party dresses, school uniforms, etc. 

  • Hair must be in a ballet bun or ponytail. Bangs must be pinned back. If hair is too short for a bun or ponytail, it must be clipped back away from the face.

  • Princess crowns not allowed.

  • Jewelry not allowed.

  • Jeans (including jean shorts and jean skirts) are never allowed in dance class.

6-10 year old classes & 5 – 9 year old classes

Music Video Pop (Jazz)

  • Jazz shoes required. NO SNEAKERS ALLOWED.

  • Hair must be in a bun or ponytail. Bangs must be pinned back. If hair is too short for a bun or ponytail, it must be clipped back away from the face.

  • Jewelry not allowed.

  • Jeans (including jean shorts and jean skirts) are never allowed in dance class.

Hip Hop

  • Form fitting dance attire required. Teachers must be able to see the dancer’s body outline clearly in order to make proper corrections on posture, alignment, etc. Examples: camisole or leotard with leggings, dance pants, or biker shorts.
